Immigrate to Canada:
Provincial Nominee Program

How to Qualify for a Canadian Visa - Provincial Nominee Program

Individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada through the Provincial Nominee Program possess the skills, education, and work experience required to immediately contribute to the economic growth of the province or territory that nominates them. They are prepared to successfully establish themselves as permanent residents in Canada.

To apply for the Provincial Nominee Program, applicants must first receive a nomination from a Canadian province or territory.

Most provinces in Canada have an agreement with the Government of Canada that enables them to nominate immigrants who want to settle in their specific region. If you choose to immigrate to Canada as a provincial nominee, you must first apply to the province where you wish to settle and complete the provincial nomination process. The province will evaluate your application based on their specific immigration needs and your genuine intention to settle there.

Below are a list of provinces and one territory currently participating in this program. Since the criteria may vary among the provinces, it is advisable to visit their respective websites for more information.

Once you have been nominated by a province or territory, you must submit a separate application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for Permanent Residence. A CIC officer will then review your application in accordance with Canadian immigration regulations.

During the process, you will be required to undergo a medical examination and security and criminal checks.

Additionally, you must demonstrate that you have sufficient financial resources to support yourself and any dependents upon your arrival in Canada.

It is important to note that provincial nominees are not assessed based on the six selection factors of the Federal Skilled Workers Program.
